• The scholarship amounts to DKK 7,000 per month during the master thesis project (for a maximum 12 months, the first possible payment in December 2020).
• Novo Scholars can apply for additional support of max DKK 6,000 for participation in international meetings to present the results of the funded project.
• Novo Scholars will be offered a Novo Nordisk or Novozymes mentor. Scholars are expected to interact with the mentor during the project and to come to Novo Nordisk or Novozymes to give a presentation about their project.
• Novo Scholars are expected to join the Novo Science Ambassador program. This program is intended to boost the interest for natural science among students in 8^th to 12^th grade (3. g) via lectures at schools across Denmark. Ambassadors will receive training in presentation.

Applications can be submitted once per year, following a call distributed to all relevant faculties at universities in Denmark. To be eligible, you must be enrolled at a Danish university and pursue an education within natural sciences, and do your thesis project in a field of interest to either Novo Nordisk or Novozymes. Due to international regulations, students training to be healthcare professionals (HCPs, such as medical doctors, pharmacists, nurses etc.) are not eligible to apply.

Only applications for support of scientific projects of interest to Novozymes or Novo Nordisk will be considered. The applicant must be a master student enrolled at a Danish university during the entire period of time of the scholarship. The university supervisor must be associated with the same institution. Marks for bachelor project, if part of the curriculum, must be at least 10, and the weighted average for the bachelor minimum 8.2. Master students conducting or having agreements to conduct their master thesis project at Novo Nordisk or Novozymes cannot apply. Owing to regulations regarding support of Health Care Professionals in Denmark, the scholarship cannot be granted to students who are training to become: medical doctors, dentists, veterinarians, pharmacists, nurses, veterinary nurses, pharmacists, midwives, biomedical laboratory technicians, clinical dieticians or radiographers.

The application must include:

• Completed application form
• Applicant’s CV
• Motivational letter from applicant, maximum 500 words
• Description of project in English, maximum 1,200 words. Please include background, aim and project plan and how this project is of interest to Novo Nordisk or Novozymes
• A transcript from the university documenting status of education and marks
• Letter of recommendation from university supervisor
• Optional letter of recommendation from one relevant academic mentor

Applicants will receive replies in November 2020. Scholars and supervisors will be invited to a symposium at Novo Nordisk in the beginning of 2021 and again approximately one year after that. At the latter, scholars form the current 2020 call will be expected to present the results from their project.
